I just got an alert that my dad (age 69) was doing 134mph and engaged in fast acceleration and hard braking.

If he keeps this up, I’m going to take his flying club privileges away!

You should try to be like your daddy. If you don’t want to go 134 mph, you are wrong

Funfact: He has gone 155 in his daily driver, a 2004 VW R32.

Hard braking? That confuses me - and tell him to hang up the phone (it’s not like you can hear it over the prop noise anyways) :) :)

Emergency landing practice, most likely. When he flies solo, he always tries to work on proficiency stuff like that.

Wise move - I always did a lot of that, it’s fun AND great practice.

Although there was one time I crossed the fence clean at 60kts in a 182 which wasn’t so smart...

When Garmin GPS units were a thing, my dad grabbed mom’s Garmin from her car, turned it on, and tucked it in the tank bag on his ZZR1200 and set a max speed of 143mph. He put it back in her car and waited a couple of days until she noticed her maximum speed was damn near 150mph. He caught major shit for that one but it was worth it to see the look on her face when she brought that Garmin in and asked him “WHEN THE FUCK DID THIS HAPPEN!?”

I’m glad my parents never had something like this in my car when I was teen.

Years later, I had my dad in the M3 and he was like I bet you can’t light up the tires.

At first I wasn’t thinking “plane” - I was envisioning my dad in the 2002 Vette he used to have. Now that I think of it, I need to put something on his iPhone that will tell me when he’s out hot rodding. :)

Not quite...this one’s in Alabama. Just outside Birmingham (also not the Michigan one!).
